curriculum matrix

The Drumcroon Curriculum Matrix is designed to be used in conjunction with the Drumcroon Long Term and Medium Term Planning Sheets and the National Curriculum Programmes of Study. The matrix is intended as a checklist and planning tool, which enables teachers of art and design to ensure coverage of the National Curriculum for Art and Design. It highlights the areas of the art and design curriculum, which collectively underpin good practice. By employing the matrix as an ongoing reference point, units of work can be formulated across a year or key stage. This approach allows the progress of pupils' learning to be planned to ensure breadth and balance over a school year. With some modification, the matrix can also serve as a means of auditing the coverage of teaching and learning over time. The matrix identifies the main areas of coverage across a key stage course of study; it is not intended that every area be addressed in any one unit of work.
