Poems in response to the work of Victoria Crowe

The poems below where produced by Y6 (11 year olds) during a days visit to ‘Alchemy’. They used the word ‘alchemy’ to create an acrostic poem which gave them a structure to help them build their thoughts and responses to their work. These are just a small selection.Click here to view the work of Victoria Crow.

Angels are a spirit of peace
Love in our eyes
Chalices filled right to the rim with memories of her son
Hearts are filled with happiness
Everlasting colours of gold and bronze

Stephanie Y6

Angels protect you when you’re in need
Leaves flicker off the autumn tress
Colours
Hands reach out for her son’s spirit
Memories of her son’s happiness in life

Emma Y6

Angels protect us forever
Leaves are crisp and make us feel happy
Colours of gold, green and orange represent autumn
Happy times give happy memories for life
Every feeling for her son is proud
Memories are special to us
Your love for precious things is the love that counts

Nathan Y6

Angels that drop feathers of presence
Lilies of beauty and peace
Chalice to be proud of and admiring
Hands feeling and reaching out into the world
Entrapped in Victoria’s wonderful work
Memories of past experiences, good and bad
Young babies with their whole life ahead

Sally Y6

Happiness is a strong spirit of the heart
Extraordinary memories of her pictures
Memories of her precious son
The youth of her son keeps the spirit alive

Y6

Angels protecting us, warming our hearts
Life being short or long, from anything to everything
Colourful paintings bring us to life
Happiness takes over us as we stare at the picture
Enjoyment fills our body when we see something special
Mother of two, then mother of one
Young lively drawings fill the room with joy

Powerful, peaceful beauty.
Flowers and bees and lovely trees.
Searching in Italy for her angel.
Collecting messages on her way.
Suddenly, her angel was floating behind her,
Invisible to everyone
Reflected and camouflaged
In a bright summer’s day

Y6

The following are group poems produced by whole classes as we sat and gathered thoughts at the end of their visit. I have found it to be a lovely way to reinforce the experiences of the day.

Powerful, peaceful beauty
Powerful, peaceful beauty
Flowers and bees and lovely trees.
Searching in Italy for her angel.
Collecting messages on her way.
Suddenly, her angel was floating behind her,
Invisible to everyone
Reflected and camouflaged
In a bright summer’s day.

Victoria
Looking at Victoria’s work
We found repeated patterns.
The alchemy of life and peace.
Mixtures from nature -
Leaves, flowers, insects -
Living creatures,
Like butterflies on a summer’s day.
The soul of the guardian angel guides her as she paints
Her inspired spiritual inner life.

Victoria’s Angel
Victoria’s angel
Helps her hands
To light her world and hold on to life.
Colour and nature
Express her feelings
And her flowers
Brighten the seasons with happiness and joy.
When parts of life die our spirits fly,
Our souls carry on
Like dragonflies gliding across the earth.
